What medicine can I take for skin allergies?

I play soccer and whenever i dive and my skin touches the grass, i begin to itch. my other team mates do the same thing but they don't get allergies. help

What medicine can I take for skin allergies?
Your best bets for non-drowsy relief is taking Claritin (loratadine) or Allegra. Allegra requires a doctor's prescription though.

Benadryl and other antihistamines will probably work better for that type of allergic reaction, but they'll also most likely knock you out so you won't be much good on the soccer field.

You may want to look into longer sleeved soccer or athletic shirts. I think they're called second skin? They're designed to work with the body and help keep you cool while protecting the skin. Also make sure you play in the long soccer socks that go up to your knees. These would provide a line of defense between you and the grass and would minimize your itching.

After playing, you're also going to want to shower immediately. Removing the allergens from your skin will help prevent the reaction from spreading or getting worse from continued contact. Also try not to itch until the area is cleaned (and even then try to minimize the itching). If you itch before the area is cleaned, you have a good chance of just pushing the grass allergens further into the skin making it harder for it to heal.

You may also want to check out Benadryl creams, and cortizone creams. These can be applied after cleaning the area and will help reduce the inflammation, itching, and pain associated with the reaction.
Reply:I take Allegra it helps.
Reply:Ask a pharmacist.
Reply:Well, i take benedryl, it helps me and i have taken it for a few different things like allergies to spider bites, when my exzema was really acting up and now for this rash tht comes up when it feels like it, itches like crazy but if i can catch it b4 it's full blown then it won't be as irratating or major scratch attack just minor. But, for some people, it makes them really drowsie, it doesn't for me but, u can lok to see if they have a non drowsie one. ....Good Luck!
