Does anyone know an alternative remedy for my rabbit's peeling/ flaky skin on his ears?

He has had two courses of Ivermectin in case of mites ( though none found). He has skin scrapes and cultures done, but they both came back negative. He is on paper in his hutch in case of allergy to straw and it's not a case of overgrooming from his partner either. I don't want him to have an op as he's fit, healthy, happy and very bouncy otherwise and would like to know if there are any alternative creams rather than steroid creams I can use that would be safe. He is now going bald on the ears and the vets aren't sure what to do. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

have you tried a diffrent vet? second and third opinions can be life savers.
Reply:Vaseline May Be A Help, And It Doesnt Contain Anything Nasty If He Washes Himself Or Gets Washed! Or What About Some Kind Of Suncream Or Moisturiser? If Small Amounts Are Applied The Will Soak Into His Ears And Will Not Be Ingested If Grooms Himself Or Gets Groomed. Althugh Getting A 2ndOpinion Wouldn't Hurt, Just To Be On The Safe Side
Reply:there is a tea tree cream you can get from the pet shop its for small animals i used it on my guinea pig and a rat what had a skin problem
Reply:I WOULD TRY BABY OIL, YOU NEVER KNOW AND IT WONT DO ANY HARM IF IT DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A LONG HAIRED RABBIT AND HER FUR HAS GONE VERY KNOTTED AND IM DESPERATE TO MAKE IT BETTER ANY SUGGESTIONS!
