MY little bichon mix has skin allergies, around the hind legs mostly, she scratches and even nibbles at her back legs, her coat is even thinning. I feed her Royal Canin Special 33 Mini, any advise is much appreciated.
Currently I am giving her Varcytol-P but that just treats the symptoms and is not goof for her to be on long term.
If anyone knows what Bichons are most commonly allergic too I would be very appreciative of any and all suggestions. I hate to see my baby girl suffer.
Does anyone have a bichon frise with skin allergies?
How long has it been going for? My bichon had a small rash on his back but he kept licking and biting it which made it worse, so you need to stop her from licking it. You can get a head bucket for her to stop her or what we did is put a small bit of chili sauce on the top layer of fur (so it didn't irritate the skin more!) and one lick and he was put off!!! We washed it off a couple of days later and he stopped licking it which calmed the spot down. Bichons are sometimes known to be allergic to protein foods such as beef, pork, or chicken but other symptoms apart from skin irritations include digestion problems. Can't think of any other allergies, hope this helped!!!
