Skin keeps falling off my fingers - what's wrong?

in the last 6 months or so, on the sides of my index fingers (nearest my thumb), i keep getting these white circles, almost like dried blisters, which eventually develop a hole and the skin comes away. I have to keep trimming away the dead skin every couple of days. Not sure quite what this is or why it keeps happening! is it dermatitis?

I sit in an office and work at a computer so i don't do anything particularly manual with my hands which might lead to dry skin or chafing to cause blisters. i try to moisturise but that doesn't seem to make much difference. recently it's started to spread onto my thumbs as well.

if it's any help, i suffer with eczema in my ears, mild asthma and i'm vegetarian with no food allergies.

Skin keeps falling off my fingers - what's wrong?
If its any help, i suffer from eczema to and i get what my doc told me is eczema as well exactally the same as what you have described, the skin peels off my fingers and it sometimes cracks and bleeds, I have a steriod crem for this but sometimes if i use sudocrem an antiseptic healing cream on a night before bed, it soothes and heals it quicker. It only flares up at certain times on my hands, especially when i'm stressed.
Reply:mm id see a doctor about it, it may be a dermatitus, me i get them as well but i work extensivly with my hands
Reply:it was eczema but it as now got infected. it is dermatitis you need to go to the DR and get some cream he might also give you antibiotics
Reply:its not a bog deal. Its just because of the lack of Vitamin C.

Take a lot of vegetable which are rich in vitamin C, like carrots, green leaves, etc and you will be fine.
Reply:I used get this but I found what the cause was. It was the shampoo used for washing the car. I have been using rubber gloves now for the past year and the peeling of skin in between my fingers has ceased.
Reply:What you are most likely experiencing is a natural molting of skin that has become more noticeable due to you lack of regular use of your hands. Your skin replaces itself by shedding layers...similar to a snake, but not all at once like a snake. People that work with their hands may notice them as well, but chalk it up to their work, where as us office workers, may need to get our hands dirty a bit more often to see them less.

This could also be a symptom of eczema as what that implies is that skin replaces itself faster in affected areas, thus appearing scaly and itchy.

So long as there is no pain, or itching, I'd say just consider it a natural body function. If you use medication for your ears, try a dab of that on your fingers. Another method is to wear rubber gloves to bed at night, this will help to keep your hands moist naturally...it worked for my mom who has extreme psoriasis on her fingers.
Reply:Check with a dermatoologist.
Reply:I had that for years. It spread to all 10 fingertips. Every doctor I asked didn't have a clue.

Finally a dermatologist said it was just a persistent viral infection of the skin, and the best thing to do was after washing the hands each time splash some hydrogen peroxide (the kind in the brown bottles) on my hands as a kind of rinse.

After a few months, the little blister things were gone, and they haven't been back since.

Give it a try, I'd bet a nickle it works.
Reply:It may be because you wash your hands too frequently. My hands get incredibly dry (disgusting white crusts sometimes) because I wash them way too much. I have OCD, however... but I've managed to control the urge to wash them.
