she's on allergy shots every 3 weeks, antihistamines, and occasionally steroids, but the smell is ghastly and the house is constantly covered in a grey dust that is literally from her. It's a nightmare. SHe's s 3 y.o G. Shep. I don't know what to do and it's costing me a FORTUNE

get a skin scraping to pin point the cause than you can free the home of what is causing the skin problem. treating the way you are is too general.this dog could have mange which is treatable if cought early.mange is a bug fron the dirt.or an allergy to mold? or 100 other things! get a skin scraping test from your vet.

Reply:GSD's can be very sensitive to diet.
There are a lot of reports of feeding raw to GSD's to prevent such problems. You might want to try that. (Raw being raw unprocessed meat).
Sometimes GSD's can become intolerant of particular types of meat. Change to a type they have never had before (rabbit Deer Horse etc.)
Do not use deodorant sprays etc. Do not use Human shampoo. Do ask vet for advice
Reply:the skin patches are parable hot spots and you can go to the pet store to get some medicine for that
