Does anyone really do the skin allergy test when dyeing their hair?

it says to perform a skin allergy test and u have to wait 48 hrs. to make sure ur not allergic. i doubt i'm allergic to it, and i don't want to wait. i also don't thing that most people pay any attention to the allergy test.

Does anyone really do the skin allergy test when dyeing their hair?
most people don't. The manufacturer's are required by law to write that though to avoid lawsuits in the rare event that someone is allergic.
Reply:I have personally never dyed my hair, but my friend did and she got a rash on her neck. you definitely should in my opinion
Reply:I don't perform the skin allergy test and I color my hair ALOT.

Just put some kind of hair protector oil or cream around the hairline...it helps.

You can also use vaseline since it wipes right off.

I hope you love your color!!!
Reply:I never have and I've dyed mine a few times. I'd say go for it, but if your skin burns or anything like that wash it out right away. Good luck!
Reply:I've never done it and it works just fine for me. As a matter of fact, I just dyed my hair friday without doing the test and nothing bad so far.
Reply:Ive only seen one person allergic to color, and unfortuantly she is a colorist, she she has to wear heavy duty gloves. Her skin falls off when she comes into contact with color. So if your worried, I'd do it, but the chances of actually being allergic are slim.
Reply:ive dyed my hair 50 times and i have never done the allergy test

its a waste of time
Reply:I have been coloring my hair for about 20 years and have never performed the skin allergy test and never had a problem. If you do not have sensitive skin, then you are probably fine.
Reply:most people ignore the allergy warning. i used to until i got too confident after dying frequently, and then my scalp turned bright red and became inflamed from the dye
Reply:If you've ever dyed your hair before without a reaction, you should be alright. I've never done the allergy test myself, and I've been dyeing my hair for well over 10 years without any reactions.
Reply:I wouldnt worry about it unless you have other allergies or have had reactions to products before.
